Saturday 9 August 2008 The historic tribute/reality concert was held on Saturday August 9th 2008 at the Bolton Arena when four of the top Elvis tribute artists in the world, each of their specialist era featured in the best of the concert years of Elvis Presley. Included in the line up were the original backing singers for Elvis Presley, the Sweet Inspirations and his legendary drummer DJ Fontana. Together with the elite tributes, making it the closest we would ever come to an original Elvis Presley concert. The artists were backed by the Graceland Orchestra with a special guest appearance from Elvis tribute band Red Alert. Incredibly all the Elvis Tribute artists recieved standing ovations at some stage during their performance as thousands of Elvis fans from around the world witnessed the dream concert. The concert has since become recognised as the greatest Elvis tribute concert since August 16th 1977

Recording sessions took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood on January 22 and 23, 1963, and at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 26 and 27, 1963. It peaked at #3 on the Top Pop Albums chart. “Bossa Nova Baby” arrived in stores one month prior to the soundtrack, coupled with the track “Witchcraft” by rhythm and blues songwriter and arranger Dave Bartholomew and a hit for The Spiders in 1956. The fact that the bossa nova craze of the 1960s was a Brazilian phenomenon rather than a Mexican one mattered little, as the single peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Elvis is a 2005 CBS mini-series written by Patrick Sheane Duncan and directed by James Steven Sadwith, it chronicles the rise of American music icon Elvis Presley from his humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi to his international superstardom. The cast includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Presley, Rose McGowan as Ann-Margret, Randy Quaid as “Colonel” Tom Parker, Camryn Manheim as Gladys Presley, Robert Patrick as Vernon Presley, Tim Guinee as Sam Phillips, Jack Noseworthy as Steve Binder, Antonia Bernath as Priscilla Presley, Clay Steakley as Bill Black, Mark Adam as Scotty Moore, John Boyd West as Red West and Randy McDowell as Gene Smith. Jonathan Rhys Meyers won a Golden Globe for his performance as Elvis Presley. The mini-series is available on a region-free DVD. The DVD was made available August 14, 2007, the title of the series was changed to Elvis: The Early Years. During the filming of the Mini-Series, Meyers had studied Elvis, his films and his music, all the nuances that fans know and love. This a collection of photos & video, taken on a Brilliant night out in Dublin city Ireland. Where we attended “Elvis in Concert” with members of the original band playing to large video screens & it rock n rolled the whole arena. I would go again , long live The king….
